GOLDWATER, BARRY. (1909-1998). American politician known as “Mr. Conservative.” SP. (“Barry Goldwater”). 1p. Folio. N.p., N.d. A large black-and-white extreme close-up photo of Goldwater’s face inscribed with “best wishes” to Barry Hoffman across the image.
Goldwater represented the state of Arizona in the Senate for five terms. In 1964, he made an unsuccessful bid for the White House, losing to Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson in a landslide. However, his prominence led to a resurgence of conservatism, earning him the nickname “Mr. Conservative.”
In excellent condition; Goldwater’s signature is on a darker portion of the image. A dramatic portrait by one of the 20th century’s premier photographers.
